(Coming soon... historical misery analytics using PRISM! 🔥)
Jared does not like the humidity. So much they get miserable whenever the dewpoint gets too high. For Jared, it truly is not the heat but rather the humidity.
Over time, Jared decided to document how miserable it can get out there and display the results out to the public. After extensive analysis and "personal peer review," the "Jared Is Miserable (JIM)" Index is defined as:However, it has been pointed out this is a subjective analysis, and there are also cases where it is so miserable out there, that it's probably best to not engage with Jared. Thus, a new threshold was born:
And finally, after much careful consideration, there are very rare, but very important occasions when it's not just miserable for Jared, but for the whole world. This is simply defined as:
If you're looking for a metric to objectively decide good weather days from bad, then you're at the wrong place. I'd suggest checking out someone else's site like this one.
Jared is getting real time dewpoint data from ASOS stations around the world to determine current miserableness. Current data is provided by NOAA's National Weather Service and archived data is provided by NOAA's National Centers for Enviromental Information. The default is Asheville Regional Airport in North Carolina (Where Jared Resides). Forecast data is provided by the High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model stored in AWS in ZARR format. This is maintained by MesoWest, and their description of HRRR in ZARR format is here.
